Previous Prez Ramblings

Ramblings from the President . . . Time to Revamp OAMP Well, I may not be the actual president, but I bet I can ramble. Our association has hit a snag. In the past several years things have gotten lost along the wayside. We have made great strides in the past on the mental health community in Oklahoma. We can continue to make our association work for us both on a State level as well as nationally through NAMP. In order to make our association work for us we need people to commit time and effort in every aspect our organization on all fronts. Bill Hickman resigned as President effective June 30, 2007. We are in need of a few people to become more involved in the business of the association as well as people in the field that see the everyday needs of the people we serve who are interested in helping to rebuild our organization. If you are interested in being a part of this organization this is a great time to get involved. We are going to have to build our organization up from the ground up and need of leadership to make that happen. If you are interested in a position of leadership in OAMP please email a letter of interest and resume to pkcummings@cox.net. If you have a specific interest or idea in this area please let us know and we will see if we can't make it happen. In order for the LBP license to grow and continue to be viable, we need to have a strong state organization. I hope that someone will step up that can help to provide leadership to our organization and provide fresh ideas and energy to make OAMP grow stronger. I would like to hold an organization meeting. However, I understand that it is difficult for people to come from across the state to meet for a few hours with the price of gasoline being so high these days. My thought is that we could possibly set up a Lunch and Learn seminar and hold an organization meeting afterward. If you are interested in being a speaker for a few hours at such an event please contact me at pkcummings@cox.net. We are planning to have the National Convention in Oklahoma this year at UCO. This would be a great opportunity for us to get together and renew our efforts in lighting a fire under our organization. P. Kay Cummings
